By now, it feels like Bibi’s Bakery can’t catch a break, unless you’re talking about the kind that leaves a front door in shards.

Early Friday morning, LAPD responded to a call at the beloved Pico Boulevard bakery after someone decided to turn the front entrance into a jigsaw puzzle. It’s the second attempted break-in in less than two months.

Despite the unsettling scene, the owner says there’s no reason to believe this was an antisemitic incident. No graffiti, no vandalism, just a straight-up (failed) smash-and-grab.

Police are investigating, and for now, Bibi’s is back to what it does best: feeding the neighborhood with Challahs, and enough warmth to get you through the week.
