Chabad Family Survives Direct Drone Strike in Ukraine

In a story that can only be described as miraculous, Rabbi Yosef and Chaya Wolff, Chabad emissaries and pillars of the Jewish community in Kherson, Ukraine, survived a direct drone strike on their vehicle Thursday evening.

“We were on our way to Kherson, just under a mile from the military checkpoint,” reported Rabbi Wolff, who also serves as the city’s Chief Rabbi. The couple was traveling with their daughter Raizy when, out of nowhere, a drone, believed to be of Russian origin, struck their car.

The explosion tore into the vehicle, crumpling its metal frame and setting off a panic-inducing chain of events. And yet, in a moment that defied logic and physics, the Wolff family escaped physically unscathed. The airbags deployed instantly, shielding them from the brunt of the blast.

In a video shared shortly afterward, Rabbi Wolff, visibly shaken, stood before the wreckage and declared with deep emotion, “We are alive because of a miracle.” He then turned his eyes heavenward: “Thank you, Hashem, for the gift you’ve given us, the gift of life itself.”

This wasn’t just a narrow escape. It was a reminder that even in a country ravaged by war, amidst the dangers that have become all too ordinary, G-d still watches over His people.

The Wolffs have been steadfast in their mission to serve the Kherson Jewish community through blackouts, food shortages, and ongoing shelling. This incident could have ended tragically, but instead, it became a testament to faith, resilience, and divine protection.
