Gas Station Incident Ends in Arrest Thanks to Community Witness

This afternoon, a troubling incident occurred at the gas station near Pico and Doheny when a suspect forcibly took a Jewish individual’s black hat and became combative on the scene. Thanks to the quick thinking of a passerby who called our emergency hotline, Shmira was able to track the suspect until LAPD arrived.

What made the difference in this case? The caller didn’t just report and leave; they returned to the location and positively identified the individual, which was critical. Without that identification, LAPD would not have had the ability to take the suspect into custody.
