A few months ago I made a claim that LA Kosher food was better than
NY. Even the Pizza.
Needless to say; some people didn’t love that.
One of my earliest TikTok videos, ranking My Top 5 kosher pizza spots in
LA. The comment section? Brutal.
“Awful take..must have defective taste buds..” one person wrote. “Please
never talk about food again..” said another commenter.
Clearly; the yidden of LA have strong feelings about their Kosher Pizza..
I learned as much when one location - which will remain unnamed -
denied to be reviewed or rated.
We told them the LA Jewish Home was crowning the Top Pizza in Town and they told us they’d turned down a review from Dave Portnoy, TWICE! So…we didn’t take it personally.
Still I was determined to know the truth. Pizza is my all-time favorite
food, and I needed to know. Who makes the best Kosher Pizza in town?
So I assembled a team of top-tasting talent to taste-test the
tried-and-true and tackle the tasty newcomers. Our mission: crown the
undisputed #1 Kosher Pizza in LA.
Joining me was comedian and fellow food critic Ben Berger
(@benbergerbaby), LA Jewish Home Editor-in-Chief David Rogatsky,
Fellow LA Jewish Home Editor Baily Rogatsky, and more surprise guests!
Riding in Luxury. A decked-out Mercedes Sprinter Van, courtesy of Lux
Living Hospitality. It felt like we were Jewish food rockstars on the LA Leg of our Kosher Pizza World-Tour.
We even had these 3-inch-thick Dubai Chocolate bars from Rosemary
Chocolat on Fairfax as a palate cleanser. It was one of the wildest food
experiences of my life to date.
5 hours of nonstop pizza eating wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I’d
I'm lying if I say it wasn’t delicious, though.
We were all amazed that the pizza still tasted good and actually
distinctive. After 12 straight locations!
Granted, we didn’t eat the full slice and every location, and our leftover
Pizza we dropped off at YOEC for the hungry yeshiva bochurs.
For the record, The LA Jewish Home does not encourage eating such
extreme amounts of food.
We are, however… paid professionals.
So without further ado..Let’s rate some pizza.
