Yesh Tikva’s High Holiday Challah Bakes September 8 & 9, 2025A Collective Act of Hope, Tradition, and Connection
This September, as we prepare for the High Holidays, Yesh Tikva invites the Los Angeles community to participate in our annual tradition:
The High Holiday Challah Bake.
Taking place September 8th at OBKLA and September 9th in Valley Village
The braiding demonstration will be led by The Sephardic Spice Girls.
These events are more than an opportunity to braid challah, they are a part of a nationwide movement to honor those facing infertility and surround them with prayer, empathy, and hope.
Knead. Pray. Love.
That’s the heart of the Challah Bake.
We come together, hands in dough, hearts open, baking with intention that all those longing for children be blessed in the year ahead.
“This is more than baking. It’s about building community around care, vulnerability, and most importantly, showing up for one another.”
— Gila Block,
Co-Founder & Executive Director, Yesh Tikva
Why It Matters
Infertility is a silent struggle that affects 1 in 6 in the Jewish community. While it often goes unspoken, its emotional, physical, and spiritual toll is profound.
Yesh Tikva’s Challah Bakes create sacred space to:
Uplift those on this journey by making the struggle of infertility visible and supported, while allowing them individually to maintain their privacy
Infuse tradition with meaning and intention
Bring families, friends, and strangers together in unity and hope
In a time of year centered on renewal, reflection, and prayer, the Challah Bake invites us to connect with one another and with something greater, offering strength and blessings through simple, shared acts of love.
In 2024, we hosted 8 events across the country, reaching over 310 participants. This year, we have 12 bakes planned across both coasts and everywhere in between for 2025.
About Yesh Tikva
Founded in 2015, Yesh Tikva is a Los Angeles-based national nonprofit and our mission is rooted in the belief that knowledge is power, community is healing, and reproductive health belongs at the heart of Jewish life.
We serve the 1 in 6 Jewish individuals and couples facing infertility through four core pillars:
Support, Mentorship, Education, and Awareness
Infertility can be an isolating and painful experience. Yesh Tikva exists to change that, creating spaces of dignity, empathy, and understanding.
Through awareness building, inclusive programming, and personalized support, we’re helping individuals reclaim hope and navigate the path to parenthood with strength and support.
